The Matt Hampson Foundation set up to inspire and support young people seriously injured through sport

As @Raise4Matt hosts a #rwc2003 revival party in London this Thursday, 21st November, in aid of The Matt Hampson Foundation, a personal ‘Thank You’ for your inspiration - from a rugby player.

My ‘injuries’ so far include popping the meniscus in my knee and bruised ribs. This doesn't even compare to the severity of injuries and disabilities young people are faced with due to participating in the sports they love most.

When I gained the opportunity to run in aid of the Matt Hampson Foundation, I couldn’t have felt more pleased, or honoured or challenged. I really didn’t know what I had let myself in for. Just moved to London, started a highly pressurised job, training for a half marathon? For this cause - I was over the moon!!

I loved it. I was inspired but I struggled. I trained and trained. I collared sponsors.

Ben Foden and George Pisi kindly gave me a pair of signed boots that were auctioned.

And the marathon? I did it!!

Did I ever think I would run 13 miles? No.

And I would do it all again to help to inspire and support young people seriously injured through sport.

Please donate!
